Ceramic Membrane
Produced by sintering, are a combination of metal (typically Al, Zn or Ti) and metal oxide. Such inorganic membranes have good high temperature and solvent stability. They have multichannel
configaration, with various flow channel diameters and porosity. |
Multichannel:
The simplest conditions of flow are obtained in a round tube which is the basic type of ceramic
membrane filter element. In practise many of these tubes are embedded in a macroporous
ceramic support resulting in a Multichannel adapted to the demand of the filtration process. |
Polymeric Membrane
Material of construction can be a modified natural product (cellulose based) or a synthetic polymer, e.g. simple hydrocarbons,
fluoropolymers, elastomers, polyamides or polysulphones. The most general types of configuration are spiral wound, tubular
and hollow fibre.
A surface-modified polyacrylonitrile (PAN) membrane with unique UltraFilic characteristics is available for special
application in Oil&Gas field and Refineries.
Stainless Steel Membrane
Porous Stainless Steel with an internal metal oxide layer for high physical-chemical resistance
as alternative to ceramic membranes for some application.
Solvent resistant membrane
Special membranes can be used to concentrate and desalt small organic solutes in a wide spectrum of organic solvents,
for pharmaceutical/chemical processes or waste treatment applications.
|
Tubular Modules: The tubolar module is composed by straight
membrane tubes surrounded by porous support layer and support tube. Main applications are with fluids which cannot be pretreated
for foulant removal.
Spiral Wound Modules: The spiral wound module is a sandwich of
flat sheet membranes, spacers and porous material, wrapped
around a central collection tube.
This element is compact, energy efficient and has high flexibility
for many separation processes.
Hollow fiber: The hollow fiber module consists of a large number of capillaries or hollowfibers assembled together in a cylindrical shell.
This configuration is adeguate for desalination and similar applications, but the feed stream must be clean and not at extremes of pH and temperature. |
